Nearly everyone involved in running Richmond CC junior cricket is a volunteer, many of whom have jobs or other responsibilities. We are incredibly grateful for their support.

All parents or carers can support our volunteer teams by sharing player availability, ensuring the right kit is provided, and assisting wherever possible.

You do not need to have played cricket to volunteer. We are always grateful for any assistance from mums, dads and carers whether it be helping at matches, administrative, marketing, organisational or anything else. If you're interested in helping out in any capacity, please let the Junior Chair or your AGM know.

We can offer training and support for various specific roles:

Parent coaches: Supporting the pro coaches. Previous cricket experience is beneficial but not necessary, assistance with safety and organisation is always helpful. The club will pay for volunteers to attend ECB-accredited coaching courses (please ask your AGM for more information).
Match managers: Oversee individual matches, coordinate with opposition counterparts, and manage equipment for home matches.
Umpires: Each match needs 1 RCC parent umpire. Easiest to watch and learn first, the ECB provides an umpiring basics guide here.
Scorers: Each match requires 1 RCC scorer. Scoring is usually on the Play Cricket app, usually in coordination with an opposition scorer, which always helps. The Play Cricket Scorer app offers a demo feature, and there's a helpful YouTube intro video available here. Sometimes, we use paper scoring as well.

No matter what experience you bring, your help is invaluable and greatly appreciated. The deeper the pool of committed volunteers we have, the more enjoyable the experience is for everyone involved, especially for the children.

It is also inevitable that parents or carers who assist with matches may see their children selected more often, simply as every match requires a manager, umpire, and scorer to function.

Please note that regular volunteers must undergo an ECB Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which can be completed online for free. Other non-ECB DBS checks are not accepted. Your AGM will guide you through this process.
