After two losing weekends, Richmond's sides showed signs of improvement with a couple of wins, 2 draws and just the one defeat.

League Saturday 6 - the start of the Win/Lose/Draw matches and signs of better cricket being played by Richmond. Availability was a lot better and, unsurprisingly, results improved. There were good wins for the 1's and 2's, a comfortable winning draw for the 3's and a losing draw for the 4's. The 5's unfortunately lost.
At Old Deer Park, Hampstead won the toss and chose to bat. David Burton nipped one out early but then a stand of 69 seemed to have put the visitors in the ascendency. There were missed chances along the way as Richmond's fielding was poor again. However, 3 wickets for just 4 runs before lunch, all to Abhishek Jhunjhunwala, swung the balance back towards Richmond and after lunch the spin pairing of Abhi and Bhavesh Pankhania kept the visitors tied down. They were able to add a further 120 runs but at a rate of just 3.5 per over before they were forced to declare after 66 overs on 219 for 8. Richmond's reply before tea was bright with James Irvine-Fortescue and Ben Compton reaching 72 off 16 at the break. After the break, Hampstead's spinners applied pressure and both JIF and Ryan Higgins departed in quick succession. Compo, watched by older cousin Nick Compton, provided the solid core of Richmond's innings and in partnership first with Adam London and then Abhi, seemed to be taking Richmond to a comfortable win. However, when Abhi then Compo fell within a couple of overs, there was the possibility of a Richmond wobble. Greg King holed out unnecessarily before skipper Alex Griffiths and James Essex saw us over the line. A much needed win after back-to-back defeats and lots of positives to take from the match. Fielding has to improve and it would be nice to chase without the wobbles but we can't have everything at once. The win leaves Richmond mid-table, 20 points behind leaders Teddington.
The 2's also won well at Eastcote where Stephen Bail's ton and 40's from Kshitij Desai and David Blows set up a total of 291/7 off 48. In reply Eastcote were dismissed for 206. The 2's have 27 points and are still in the bottom half of the table, 24 points behind joint leaders North Middlesex and Finchley.
The 3's also scored heavily with Dan Fryer and Charlie Roberts both recording half centuries as Richmond posted 275/8 off 50. Despite 5 wickets for Anirudh Muraly, the home side clung on for the draw. The 5 points leaves the 3's in 8th place 34 points behind leaders Hampstead.
The Newman Cricket Ground again produced a high scoring affair with table topping Barnes 3rds scoring 311 for 5 off 47. There were 5 wickets for Arshdip Singh. Richmond ended on 235/7 for 1 point which keeps the 3b's out of the relegation places.
The 5's hosted Crouch End Calthorpe 3's and lost. I don't have the scores but will update once I have them.
