Gearing up for another great season at RCC

To start I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your families a Happy Easter. Having a few peaceful family days ahead of the launch of what will hopefully be another exciting cricket season at RCC is just perfect - especially for those of you who spend the summer months travelling around west London providing the essential emotional and logistical support that makes the cricket season possible.

Winter nets have now come to an end, the Colts Committee have done a wonderful job preparing for the season ahead, the first fixtures start next week, and training officially starts for the U13's and above on Friday the 21st April and for the U12's and below on Sunday 23rd April - the season is upon us!

I am delighted to announce that Adam London has accepted the role of Director of Cricket at RCC. Adam is the perfect choice for the club. He has both played first class cricket to a very high standard and is a well qualified coach, with a vision on how we should be developing the colts section. Adam says: “I'm thoroughly excited about this new chapter and can't wait to get started with Richmond CC. It's a great chance for me to work closely with so many aspiring colts, and i look forward to working with them and watching them develop into excellent cricketers.” These are exciting times at RCC. We will continue to install a love of the game in the 500 or so colts who call RCC their club, and develop players to reach their full potential. Adam will play a big part. Please join me in welcoming him to the club and I know that he can count on your support.

There was some outstanding success on the field in 2016 - we are going to need consider investing in a new trophy cabinet - and RCC is well represented on both Surrey and Middlesex pathways for both boys and girls. We had record numbers of colts participating in senior cricket and we have several outstanding senior colts who have the potential to represent the club at the top level.

Before you read the rest of the newsletter there are 2 final points from me:

Firstly, please sign up your children quickly. As you know we have now included a training top for the younger age groups and match shirts from U10 upwards in the subscriptions so it will be great to see everyone wearing their tops at the club. The other reason to sign up swiftly is to ensure your child’s place. Last year the colts section reached over 500 girls and boys. There is limit to the number of kids for whom we can provide the right experience so for the first time we wil be capping age groups.

Secondly I want to thank our sponsors - Chestertons. They are now in their second year of working with the cricket club and bring a real energy and passion to ODP. Thanks to everyone at Chestertons for your financial support and sharing our vision to make ODP a special place! Please support them in supporting RCC and if you are selling your home please go in and ask the team at Chestertons how they can help.
