Understrength Richmond XI goes out of the Middlesex T20

A disappointing exit for the Club in the final qualifier for the Finals Day of the Middlesex T20 competition, well beaten by Acton of Division 3. We were not able to field a team that was as strong as it could or should have been and we paid the price. Absolutely no criticism of the side which turned out - indeed my thanks to all of them for committing to the club, particularly the likes of Ami Banerjee, Christian Laws and Niranjan Shimoga who made themselves available at the last minute. They did their best but on the day it wasnt good enough. For the record, Richmond scored 131 for 8 off our 20 overs. A number of batsmen flattered but none went on to take the innings by the scruff of the neck. In reply, Acton got off to a great start before being pegged back by three wickets in an over from Kshitij Desai. However there were a couple of important but difficult chances that had gone down and Acton's number 3 hit it well when it mattered. So one cup left to play for - the Middlesex Cup. The Final is at Old Deer Park on Saturday 9th September and 3 wins will see us there. Time for our best players to commit to these four dates and allow us to put our best possible field out on the park.
