Defeat for the 1's and 3's ends their title chances as does a draw for the 2's. However, the 4's secure promotion back to Division 2.

A damp and gloomy Saturday ended with Richmond largely disappointed by the results and frustrated by the weather.

The 1's title challenge came to an end after a very poor batting performance against North Middlesex. Inserted on a damp and slow wicket, Richmond's batsmen struggled throughout with only Bhavesh Pankhania able to spend any significant time at the crease with 32 off 65 balls. No other batsman faced more than 25 deliveries and Richmond were dismissed for 106 in 36.1 overs. Under gathering cloud, Richmond got an early breakthrough but at the late lunch break North Middlesex were well poised at 48 for 1 with 22 extras conceded. At the resumption, light rain began to fall and when play resumed only 3.5 overs were possible before heavier rain drove the players off. As the rain continued to fall, Richmond's hopes of the 1 point required to keep title hopes alive seemed to gather strength. However after 90 minutes, the rain stopped, the target was reduced to 78 (just 12 required) and North Midd knocked them off with time to spare. Despite Hampstead's defeat at Southgate, the North London club take the title even if we beat them in next week's final game and finish level on points. This is because Hampstead will have won 11 games to our 10. A win next week will at least ensure 2nd place for the 1's. Defeat and wins for Ealing and/or Stanmore would see us finish 3rd or 4th.

For the 3rd time this summer, the 2's were unable to finish off the opposition and had to settle for a winning draw. With Ealing winning, this result means that the 2's will finish in second place in the table. Having lost the toss, the 2's scored 219 for 7 before declaring after 50 overs. In reply Stanmore were 194/9 at the close.

The 3's also lost the toss and were interred against top of the table North Middlesex. On a difficult wicket, Richmond scored 152, a target which North Midd overhauled for the loss of 8 wickets. Like the 2's the 3's are guaranteed 2nd place in the table.

The 4's match against Shepherds Bush 3's was abandoned at tea time after Richmond had posted 186 for 9 off 55 overs. Rich Zotov showed great resolve scoring 64 on a very wet wicket. The result ensures that the 4's are promoted back to Division 2 of the 3rd XI League at the first attempt, by virtue of their victory over Shepherds bush earlier in the season.

The 5's lost at Bessborough but have comfortably avoided relegation from Division 2 of the 1987 League.
