1's, 2's and 3's triumph but 4's and 5's falter

The second Saturday of the League season saw a repeat of the previous week with excellent wins for the 1's, 2's & 3's but disappointing defeats for the 4's and 5's.
The 1's lost the toss at Old Deer Park and Twickenham made a solid start reaching 94 for 2 before the spin of Bhavesh Pankhania and Tom Hemingway changed the game, sharing 7 wickets for 58 runs, and bringing about the visitors dismissal for 157 all out. In reply, just as at Stanmore, Ryan Higgins and James Irvine-Fortescue dominated from the start and within 10 overs, victory looked comfortable. Kiwi Geoff (JIF) was superb scoring his first League 50 for Richmond. Higgins dismissal brought Ben Compton to the crease and his calm 25 not out saw Richmond home within 33 overs.
The 2's travelled to Finchley and batted first. After Oli Tame's 48, a middle order collapse left Richmond struggling on 160 for 9 but a terrific 10th wickets partnership between Barnaby Cole and Sharif Khan added 44 invaluable runs. In reply, Finchley made progress towards the total but Richmond's bowling and fielding held firm and Barnaby with 5 for 33 of 9 overs was the hero as Finchley were bowled out for 174.
The 3's smashed Finchley's attack to all parts, totalling 359 for 6 - Ben Rotheram and Alex Beecroft scoring 130 off the last 10 overs after Greg Stern and Sam Cheetham had earlier got Richmond off to a great start. Finchley were bowled out for 152 leaving Richmond winners by 207 runs.
The 4's dropped catches against South Hampstead allowing the visitors to reach 138, more than they should have done. Then various batsmen got in but none was able to go on and win the game as we were dismissed for 120.
The 5's conceded a high score against Hampstead 4's and struggled with the bat going down by more than 100 runs.
