There were excellent wins for the 2's, 3's and 4's but frustration for the 1's and 5's as the league season moves into its last 4 weeks.

After week 14 of the League season, all 4 Richmond sides in the Middlesex County Cricket League are in 2nd place in their respective divisions after a Saturday of some very good cricket by a number of players.

The 1's travelled to Ealing and chose to bat first on a lifeless wicket at Corfton Road. Ryan Higgins showed his class with a patient 139, well supported by Andrew Plummer, Andrew Lowe ,Alex Griffiths and Jack Porter as Richmond posted a massive 285 for 5 off 63 overs. After Steve Stacey had removed Olly Wilkin, David Burton then ran through the Ealing upper order with 5 for 37 off 20 overs. Bhavesh Pankhania also continued his good form with an excellent spell which brought just one wicket but could have had more. However Middlesex's Harry Podmore batted 98 balls with Chris Glasper who survived 70 deliveries to stem the flow of wicket and hang on for the draw. Skipper Griffiths shuffled his bowlers well, with men round the bat but the key break didn't come and the 1's ended up with 6 points for the winning draw. With Hampstead winning, the 1's drop to 2nd just 1 point behind the leaders who we face in the final game of the season.

The 2's also played Ealing who were 14 points ahead at the start of the day. Richmond won the toss and chose to bat first. On a sporting pitch, Richmond's batsmen battled hard with Kshitij Desai leading the way with 50. However it required the tail to wag, with Ani Muraly's 40 at number 9 the highlight, to post 218 for 9 off 50. At one stage Ealing looked well placed to win and extend their lead at the top but then KD took over with the ball taking 6 wickets to bowl Ealing out for 201 and a 17 run victory.

For the first time in a few weeks, the 3's won the toss asked North London to bat and restricted them to 204 for 6 off 55. Richmond lost early wickets but Nicholas Cole and Zain Bhaktar to their heads down and saw Richmond home by 6 wickets. The 3's remain in second 5 points behind North Middlesex.

The 4's consolidated their place in the promotion slots with a 9 wicket win over Kenton 3's. Alastair Evans-Gordon took 6 for 40 as the home side was dismissed for 131. Miles Dilworth then led the way with the bat scoring 70 out of Richmond's reply.

The 5's lost a tight match against Twickenham 5's. Ali Abbassi's 97 was the highlight of the Richmond innings but Dhruva Preston's 45 a significant contribution as Richmond posted 221 for 8. In reply, Twickenham chased the target down and won by just 2 wickets.

So with 4 weeks to go the senior 4 Richmond sides are all well-placed. With the 1's, 3's and 4's still to play the sides above them in the closing weeks, there is an exciting end of the season ahead.
