NEW NET FACILITIES AT OLD DEER PARK
We are delighted to annnounce that the Executive Committee of Richmond CC has agreed to the Cricket Section's request for new practice facilities for both our Junior and Seniot sections. These willl replace the existing practice nets that the Club currently has.
In February 2008, the contractors will be onsite creating a fantastic new practice area with 5 top of the range net lanes, new surrounds and the very best surface for practice. Most significantly, they willl be turning the nets around by 90 degrees so that they now run parallel to the ground and the perimeter.
In doing so, we aim to create a safer environment for practice as well as mitigate against a low evening sun (so often a problem for the evening Adult practice) and poor visibility behind the bowlers' arm.
Two diagrams of the new nets are shown below.
Diagram A shows the footprint of the new nets laid over the old ones.
As Diagram B shows, these surface of the new nets will then be extended for the bowler's run-ups.
We will still have at least 4 grass nets for Junior practice as well.
