Much needed wins and a cup triumph

The 1's and 2's secure crucial wins and a young Richmond side takes the Cup honours against Teddington.
A mostly pleasing weekend for Richmond's sides as both the 1's and 2's secured important wins in the MCCL, the 3's had an absolutely thrilling losing draw against Ealing and the 4's a winning draw against Hghgate 3's. The 5's unfortuately lot their match against top of the table Actonians 3rd XI. On Sunday a very young Richmond side in which Adam London was the only player over the age of 25 convincingly beat a far more experienced Teddington to progress to the semi-finals of the Middlesex Cup.
At Hornsey, stand in skipper Adam London won the toss and put Hornsey in. Depsite an early wicket for Ishaan Kashaul, the home side man steady progress before lunch reaching 122 for 4. However, after lunch, James Nelson's 5 for 17 off 8.2 overs blew Hornsey's tail away as they collapsed from 131 for 4 to 145 all out.
Richmond's response was perhaps not as convincing as we would have liked but Adam's experience guided us home with 38 not out. The 1's remain in the relegation zone but have closed the gap with Twickenham to just 4 points.
The 2's bowled Highgate out for 158 and chased the target down for the loss of just 4 wickets. Steve Stacey with 4/16 off 12 was the pick of the bowlers although they all did well. Skipper Zain Bhatkar with 60 not to led his side home although Paul Hennessy's crucial 45 not out off 36 balls took away any nerves. Like the 1's the 2's remain in the relegation zone but have regained some ground the sides above them.
Ealing 3's needed 6 to win off the last over with 5 wickets in hand but Ollie Leedham took two wickets off the first two balls of the last over to peg them back snatch the draw. Earlier Charlie Nelson's 82 had been the stand-out innings for Richmond. The 3's are in 4th place 26 points behind lesders Hampstead.
The 4's took the winning draw against Highgate 3's who were dismissed for 241 in the 50th over. In reply Richmond ended on 205 for 9 after 42. The 4's hover 1 place above the relegation zone but only within a few points of two sides above them.
Actonians 3's scored 258/8 aganst the 5's whose spirited reply saw them fall by just 26 runs.
On Sunday, a youthful Richmond XI took on Teddington in the quarter-final of the Middlesex Cup in Bushy Park. Whilst neither side was at full strength, Teddington had, on paper, far more experience but it was Richmond's youngsters who came out on top. Tanmay Thanawalla and Eddie Bruce led the way with the bat - both scoring 73 -0 as we posted an impressive 251 for 6 off 45. A late highlight was Charlie Nelson dispatching Harrow School's Master in Charge of Cricket for 6!
Barney Cole got us off to the best possible start taking 2 for 27 before spin took over. Skipper Adam London ended up with 4 for 44 but there were wickets for both Nelson brothers and Vansh Jani. The Nelson boys also effected an important run out woth credit to Chalrie for the pick-up and throw and Jimmy for catching the ball before removing the bails! We go on to pkay Stanmore away on 21st August in the semi-final.
Meanwhle at ODP, the Womens XI convincingly beat Guidford by 127 runs, 13 year old Ivy Dhaliwal scored her second hundred of the league season and also too 4 for 16!
