The Stage and LSE Staff completed cricket week with more stunning cricket

Day 3, Wednesday, and The Stage came to ODP. The visitors won the toss and batted, and captain Sean mixed up his bowlers. The top order started strongly laying the foundation for what looked like a competitive total of 240 with 2s keeper Tanmay taking 4fer with his off-spin.

Zef and Eddie opened the batting, and Eddie watched as his partner reached a quick fire 50. But U15 Eddie was just getting set to anchor the innings and was out for 84 shortly before the end of what proved a comfortable chase.

Day 4, Thursday, LSE Staff and 40 overs a side. The visitors arrived with a core of players from LSE and some familiar faces from around the leagues, including a leg spinner who claimed five RCC 1st XI scalps at ODP for Finchley last Saturday. RCC won the toss, batted first and slumped to 65 for 5 at the midway point. Alex H and Barney both scored patient fifties to post a defendable 192 for 5 off 40 overs. It was always going to be a tough task but Alex Z and Hamza bowled tight opening spells to restrict LSE to a little over 2 runs per over off the first 10. Then it was over to two U15 spinners, James and Kyle. James bowled particularly well and could easily have had more than his 3 wickets if catches had been taken. After contributions from Tanmay, Zain and Barney will the ball it was left to Alex Z and Hamza to close out the match, defending 30 off the last 5. Excellent bowling and fielding resulted in 6 needed off the last over. Alex conceded singles and a 2 - 1 needed to win off 2 balls. Yorker, bowled! 1 off 1 with a new batter at the crease. Everyone in and the last ball was clipped hard to square leg where James pulled off an amazing stop but could not quite hold the catch. Alex Z finished with 8 overs, 2 for 28.

What a game and what a finish to close out an amazing week. Thank you to all who played, and to Saurabh and Karl for making it all happen. Thank you to our visitors and we look forward to seeing you next year.
