Richmond U11A 84 All Out Lose to Teddington U11A 85 for 5
West Middlesex Colts League U11 Division One
29th June 2017
The RCC U11A Team has had some great matches with Teddington U11A this year, with all the games coming down to the last nail-biting ball or two. Our Team went into the game expecting it to be tough, but also confident of securing the win needed to take an unassailable lead in the West Middlesex Colts Division One League. Richmond won the toss and chose to bat. However, the decision quickly back-fired, as the top four batsmen were all rifled out without scoring, succumbing to a combination of bad luck and excellent Teddington bowling. At 8 for 4 after 4 overs, RCC U11A was in danger of a disastrous total! However, the middle and late order rallied well to shepherd the score to 84 all out in the 20th over. Credit for this fight-back largely goes to Jack N (7), Nakhil M (14), Ollie F (20), Sam G (13) and Oisin S (7), who all batted well under pressure.
With such a modest score to defend, RCC U11A took to the field determined not to go down lamely. However, despite a terrific effort, spearheaded by some excellent bowling, especially from Leo H, Sam G and Chris K, Teddington managed to cross the line in the eighteenth over, with a score of 85 for 5.
If there are any positives to take out of the match, it was the fighting spirit that the whole Team showed as they struggled manfully to pull themselves out of the hole left by the top order batting collapse. Despite this disappointing loss, RCC U11As have still won 5 of the 7 matches they have so far played in this year's league. The Team now move towards their eighth and final match knowing that a victory against Sheen Park will secure them the title.
