Adam London's Specialist Sessions

Adam London's Specialist Sessions

This year the RCC Cricket Academy is being replaced by a program of Specialist Sessions. These are designed for intermediate to advanced cricketers (boys and girls) from U10-U15s who want to sharpen a particular aspect of their games. To book contact Adam on doc.richmondcricketclub@gmail.com and specify which session(s) you would like to attend.

The first half of each session will cover the specialist skill for that week. The rest of the session we will be in the nets with that specialist focus when batting and bowling.

Coaches will include:

  • Adam London - RCC Director of Cricket and ex Middlesex CCC
  • Ian Tabor - ECB level 3 qualified and RCC U14 Boys coach
  • Jake Dunford - RCC 1st team wicket keeper/batsmen
  • and another pro coach to fit the specialism of the week

Each child will have great access to each coach with a ratio of 6:1. A brilliant way to ask plenty of questions and work closely with a pro coach to enhance your child's game.

  • Day: Tuesdays
  • Time: 6 to 7.30pm
  • Start date: 18th May
  • End date: 27th July
  • (no session 1st June, Half term)
  • Location : Christ's School
  • Cost: £25 per session

The first 5 weeks will focus on batting: playing against different types of bowling; working out game plans and options against those bowlers; taking into consideration the pitch, conditions and field placings. This is a great way for each individual to have more understanding for when they come up against it this summer in matches.

Week 6 - 10 will focus on more bowling and fielding. We will cover: how to bowl faster; spin the ball more; develop options to different batter; practice change up deliveries; and bowling at the start and at the death of an innings. All very crucial to have in limited over matches.

Fielding - A massive part of the game that I think we all need to improve. That includes the 1st team at Richmond all the way down to the under 6s. The game is moving very quickly and all the formats around the world now including test match cricket have 11 players that need to be able to field well. I want to reintroduce a former mantra of RCC Juniors - "Be the best fielding side in Middlesex".

The weekly schedule is below:

  1. 18th May - Playing Fast Bowling - Front foot shots
  2. 25th May - Playing Fast Bowling - Back foot shots
  3. 8th June - Playing Off Spin
  4. 15th June - Playing Leg Spin
  5. 22nd June - Power Hitting
  6. 29th June - Fast bowling
  7. 6th July - Spin bowling
  8. 13th July - Bowling at the beginning and at the death of an innings
  9. 20th July - Ground fielding
  10. 27th July - Catching - High and low
