Event: Middlesex Development League Final
Date: Sunday 3rd of September
Start Time: 12:30pm

As the league season draws to a close on Saturday, the 1st Xl are travelling to North London seeking to secure promotion back to the Premier Division, this Sunday is an important day for the club.

Another important event is happening this Sunday. Old Deer Park is hosting the 2023 Middlesex Development League (MDL as it is more affectionately known) Final.

Richmond are taking on a talented Stanmore team as we look to defend the title we won in 2022.

The MDL is designed to bridge the gap between junior and adult cricket, with a format that allows sides to have a maximum of only 4 players over the age of 21. We are proud here at Richmond of our commitment to our young players and we choose to exclusively play U21 players where ever possible. Therefore we go into our 2nd MDL final in 2 years fielding a young and talented side.

This talented group of youngsters is guided by our Director of Cricket, Adam London, who is in confident mood. Adam said: “The boys have performed consistently throughout the tournament. It has been really encouraging to see some new faces in the team this year alongside players who have been regulars for the last few years. It is valuable experience playing in these pressure games. Stanmore are a quality team and they will be a stern test, but one I am confident we can overcome. What we have achieved in the MDL over the last 2 years is evidence that all the hard work and practice that these boys and the coaches have put in over the years is paying off. The club certainly has a bright future.”

With this being the last weekend of competitive cricket in 2023, we would love to see as many people as possible at Old Deer Park to support the team and close the season out in style.

The bar and café will be open as normal throughout the day and a BBQ will be running from 3:00 onwards (tickets to be bought at the Hatch).

We hope to see you there.
