Richmond Cricket Club’s U11 girls capped off a superb season with a brilliant victory in the Middlesex County Cup Final on Sunday 7 September, overcoming a strong Ealing side in style.

Having won the toss, Richmond elected to field first – a decision that paid immediate dividends with the Ealing captain run out in the first over with fine fielding . The girls bowled with accuracy, energy and discipline, restricting Ealing to just 65 all out in 18.5 overs. The standout performance came from Neave, who was deservedly named Player of the Match after returning astonishing figures of 4 wickets for 3 runs. She was well supported by Tia, Annabel, Poppy and Saira, who each chipped in with important wickets to keep the pressure firmly on Ealing.

Chasing against Ealing’s strong bowling attack was never going to be straightforward, but Richmond’s batters showed grit and determination. Poppy anchored the innings superbly, top-scoring with an unbeaten 10 not out, as Richmond reached 67/5 in 13.4 overs to seal a memorable win.

The victory sees Richmond lift the 2025 Middlesex U11 Girls County Cup, a reward for the squad’s hard work, teamwork and spirit throughout the season.

It also brings to a close a hugely successful campaign for the U11 girls, who were also runners-up in both the Middlesex and Surrey Leagues, and finalists in the Middlesex Indoor Cup, where they were narrowly beaten by Ealing.

This County Cup triumph is a fitting end to the season, and testament to the talent and commitment of the players, coaches and families who have supported the squad every step of the way. It’s also a testament to the strength of girls’ cricket at Richmond - the home of girls cricket in South West London.
