1's make it a hat-trick of League wins to start the season

After two relatively straightforward League wins, Richmond's supporters could have been forgiven for doubting the 1's chances of making it 3 from 3 at tea time. Finchley's batsmen had racked up 276 for 7 off their 50 overs, with Richmond's bowling and fielding more ragged than it had been previously. The pitch at Old Deer Park looked excellent but with Ryan Higgins missing, could Richmond's batsmen step up to the plate?

49 overs later, as David Blows smashed Sharma into the tennis courts, the answer was emphatically yes. Andrew Lowe was the principal hero, playing his finest innings in a Richmond shirt. Coming in at 4, Lowe soon found himself joined by skipper Alex Griffiths with the score on 58 for 3 after 13 overs. The pair had to rebuild and they did so in exemplary style, running well and hitting the occasional bad ball to the boundary. The batting power play was taken with Richmond still needing 137 off 16. Despite losing Griffiths for 50, this spell of 5 overs saw 45 runs scored.

Jack Porter joined Lowe who was now in absolute command. He reached his first Richmond league ton with a six over mid-wicket. Porter fell to a catch in the deep and one lean over left Richmond needing 17 off the last two overs. They didn't need it. 6, 4, 1 from Lowe, followed by a dot, 2 and then the match winning 6 from Blows sealed the win.
