C&W U11 Innings: 118-5 off 20 overs
RCC U11B Innings: 120-3 off 17.1 overs

RCC U11B win by 7 wickets

On a rapidly cooling summers evening at Whitton Park Sports Association cricket ground, RCC U11B took on a Chiswick&Whitton side eager to take revenge on RCC for their beating earlier in the season at ODP.

It was agreed that RCC U11B would field first due to some C&W latecomers, with Oisin S taking the captains armband for the game, and then opening the bowling with Charlie P. And what an opening few overs it was! Over 1 Oisin caught and bowled the C&W No2 batsman, and then Charlie clean bowled the no3 bat, leaving C&W reeling on 5-2 off 2 overs. That’s when the wheels started falling off somewhat with an overthrow from a close run out chance going to the boundary followed by some relatively slack fielding, made harder by an outfield more suited to grazing cattle, and then a litany of wides which handed C&W back the initiative. Having had a pep talk about keeping the extras down before the game, unfortunately too many errors were creeping into the bowling, which will be something for our Sunday coaches to tackle this weekend. But in between these wides were a few moments of good cricket. Oli N bowled the No4 bat who was starting to look settled while Henry C (bowling) and James G (catch) combined to remove the No5 bat, and Mashhood A bowled the No6 bat in the final over. Also Rudi W bowled a very tidy 2 overs considering it was his first ever cricket game, while Finn P was looking sharp in the field as per usual. C&W finished their 20 overs with a score of 118-5 with the No1 bat not out on 37. Within that score however were 57 runs from extras (44 from wides, 7 from no-balls and 6 byes). Not ideal.

RCC U11B then batted with Mashhood A and James G opening. The partnership got off to a great start with some meaty blows during the first 8 overs taking the score to 54 before Mashhood was adjudged LBW and sent back to the hutch for a great 32 off 22 balls. Then in came Grayson E who put on a partnership of 17 runs with James G before Grayson was bowled for a respectable 5 runs, with RCC U11B sitting pretty at 71 for 2 off 11 overs. Finn P then joined the fray and smacked a few quality shots helping the score along to 104 after 14 overs before James G was bowled for 27, the anchor innings! With only 14 required off 6 overs Finn P and Libby R-F took little pity on a floundering C&W bowling attack and closed the game quickly, with 2 glorious straight drives from Libby and a lofted on drive from Finn P being the pick of the shots. RCC U11B then reached the required runs off 17.1 overs to close out the game convincingly.

The less said about the bowling the better, however Oisin, Charlie, Oli, Henry and Mashhood were the pick of the bowlers, all taking a wicket apiece. Therefore I am going to give the MOTM to our two openers Mashhood for a very stylish 32, and James G for a well structured 27. Well done to them both.
