U11s took a nerve-shredding win to secure 20 points against Sunbury at Old Deer Park. Finlay again led with the bat (40 off 39) as did Seb (25 off 30) against a reasonably disciplined bowling attack, but Sunbury snatched a few key wickets and we set a relatively modest 125 to defend on a bouncy deck with a fast outfield. Sunbury got off to a flyer with 2 players scoring 30+. Vihaan took an outstanding catch off Theo to take a gun batsman off the field and Wilbur bowled their opener with a beautiful full ball, but we were at times a little sleepy in the field. It looked all over by the 15th with Sunbury needing only 19 off 30 balls. In an outstanding display of bowling at the death, RCC took 7 wickets for only 17 runs, with Zaki (2 of his 4 for 14 in the final over), Ed (2 for 17) and Finlay (a crucial wicket maiden). Arjun was sharp with the gloves (2 run outs). Seb and Laurie took important catches. We won by 1 run on the final ball. Such an exciting match and, given the match was all but lost, a never say die performance!
