Spencer's bowlers started well, restricting RCC U11A to 3/1 off 3 overs, but Ben and Will accelerated to take the score to 25 when the second wicket fell in the 6th over. The middle order delivered. Will (26), Eddie (12), Sandy (33 retd) and James N (21) plundered boundaries through the rest of the innings on a quick outfield. On three occasions that outfield made no difference at all - Eddie hit his first competitive six, and Sandy struck two more. The team total of 139 set a new benchmark for the season.
It was always going to be tough for the Spencer batters from the moment that Alex sent a quick "lifter" down first ball of the innings. The openers made an excellent start but were always behind the rate. By the time both had retired on 30+ there were 69 required off 6.5 overs. The Richmond bowlers kept it tight with Dan and James N particularly impressive. They were supported by some sharp outfielding and closed out an excellent victory in the gathering gloom.
Once again every single player contributed: all ten bar Huw bowled and there was good noise and energy in the field. The bowling attack need to attack the stumps a little more, but overall this was another top performance.
Sandy was awarded a well deserved player of the match for his 33 runs, a wicket and supportive behaviour in the field.
