RCC U11B beat Esher U11B

Won like a team

RCC U11B batted first on a wicket of variable bounce, and from the get go were in the driving seat. Karan S and Rohan B, supported by a good number of extras provided an excellent base from which the middle order could explode. Oscar Y, Arjun G and Chris K found the bowling to their liking and mixed hefty blows with some great calling and aggressive running to post a total of 153/5. Both Chris and Oscar came within a yard of registering sixes and spent their time creating headaches for the opposition attack.

Our bowling was measured and gave little away in the opening overs. Zach W nipped out a couple of batsmen to keep them on the back foot, the first wicket coming from a dujonesque (ask your fathers!) diving catch down the leg side by Oscar. After an artistic first over, Enzo B found a solid line and length to contain a solid Esher middle order. At the other end Alfred R profited from pitching up his legspin to create a catch in the deep and bamboozle a batsmen into being smartly stumped by our keeper. With Chris and Arjun to close out the overs our total was well beyond the opposition, who fought well but in vain to 125/5.

The team can feel proud of itself. They worked well together gave lots of support to their compadres and adhered to the no sledging policy! The fielding was alive and inspired by skipper Karan who threw himself around like Jonny Rhodes and there was a superb run out with a direct hit by Enzo. Well done all.
