The oldest side contributed to a year of success for RCC Colts

RCC U17s had one of their most enjoyable and successful seasons in recent years. The team, ably skippered by Gian Shori and adeptly managed by Stephen Spencer-Jones, reached the final of the 2016 Middlesex County League Competition, which was kindly hosted by NPL Teddington on a gloriously sunny final Bank Holiday Monday in August. After beating strong opposition in the quarter-final (Ealing CC) and semi-final (Eastcote CC) in high quality and competitive matches, the team were unable to win the final against a capable Wycombe House team. Nevertheless, the fact that 3 of the RCC team played without sleep, having come straight from the Reading Music Festival, was itself no mean achievement ! A week earlier, the team won the Mid-Surrey U17 league competition, beating Chessington CC in a keenly contested final. The boys also enjoyed and competed very well in an end of season U18 T20 cricket festival hosted by In Touch at Epsom College against academy sides featuring district and county age group players. Throughout the season, Sami Shori (u15) and Cole Campbell (u16) led the batting and were supported by vital contributions from Gian Shori, James O'Farrell, Rhodri Evans (u16), Barnaby Cole and Jivan Singh (u15). The bowling honours went to Barnaby, Arshdip Singh (u16) and Arun Bhasin (u15), who were very well supported by seam bowlers Omar Qavi, Sean Austin and Jack Spencer-Jones, and spinners, Sami, Cole and Gian.
