Successful end to season for U14s

Having won the Mid-Surrey U14 Cup earlier in the season (the boys being thrilled that a certain cricketing legend - Mr. Adam Gilchrist - had taken the time to re-tweet their achievement!), Richmond U14s faced Teddington U14s in the Middlesex Area Final on 3 September 2017 at a slightly drizzly and desolate Bushy Park. Having won the toss, Teddington invited Richmond to bat first on their main square . Dru Shori and Ed Pearson proceeded to put on an impressive 50 partnership from the first 7 overs. Teddington took wickets regularly but the Richmond top order batted well as a unit and with important contributions from Alex Powell, David Doughty, Anosh Malik and Karthik Jain, the team were able to post a competitive score of 130 for the loss of 6 wickets from 20 overs. Teddington were in the match for much of their innings but a disciplined bowling effort from the Richmond seamers (Viv Raman, Toby Dowding, Karthik Jain, Keegan Hill and Freddie Sims) and spinners (Dru Shori and Zack MacGuire) meant that they fell short of the target, reaching 102 for the loss of 8 wickets from 20 overs. The win crowned a memorable season for the team which has been adeptly managed by Andy Dowding and supported by George Doughty (scorer).
